Wordpress vs Blogger

Tuesday, November 11th, 2008

This is a very common questions that I get asked.

Would you recommend using Wordpress or Blogger for a blog? Which is better? Why?

Well, first of all it really depends what you are trying to achieve. If you are just trying to run an online diary for yourself, either one is good, however if you are pursuing specific goal, then I would recommend you one of them.

For example, if you are trying to get a blog to rank in the search engines, get many readers and make money online I would definitely recommend Wordpress. Wordpress has SEO ready structure and allows you to insert various plugins that can help you rank in the search engines and make your blog function the way you want it. On the other hand, Blogger is much simpler platform and is not so flexible, however easy to deal with.

In terms of ranking on search engines, you can really get both platforms to work, its all mainly to do with incoming links. The social bookmarking plugins in wordpress automate the process of getting backlinks to your posts/pages which really makes big difference.

I must warn you however, wordpress requires a lot of customization in order for it to work efficiently. If you are not familiar with web design and CSS I would recommend you getting someone setting wordpress for you.

Untitled Document

Tuesday, November 4th, 2008

One of the common mistakes in web design that I often notice is “Untitled Document” in the title tag. People simply forget to change it or pay no attention to it. It looks quite silly when a unprofessionally designed website has pages titles “Untitled Document”.

First of all, title tag in HTML is probably the most important tag. The reason for it being is that the keywords in the title tag play a vital role for onsite search engine optimization. Secondly, when your web pages get indexed by the search engines, the listing in the search engines will appear with your title tag in its own title.

Ideally your title tag should contact 3-5 keywords that you are trying to optimize for. I normally use “-” sign to separate them and this worked quite well for my sites so far for the SEO.

Tuesday, October 14th, 2008

I’ve had a few people asking me to set them up a website like this one so that they can start blogging successfully. So Ive decided to put together a package.

I am going to install your Wordpress and configure all required Wordpress plug-ins and theme in order for your website to naturally rank in top search engines. My Price is $650, considering that you get me a domain name and cPanel based hosting (preferably hostgator)

If you are going to blog at least 3 times a week using my setup, over 6 weeks you should gain a Page Rank and your results will appear in Google for long tail keywords within 12 hours.

I will also give you a link from this website as well.

I personally think its a pretty good deal

SEO Expert Australia vs SEO Expert Brisbane

Monday, October 13th, 2008

I decided to make a post to prove that more specific (geographically) search terms are much easier to optimize for just by natural optimization which I happen to be SEO Expert of. So for example, search term SEO Expert Brisbane after this post should appear in positions 1-4 in google and msn where as SEO Expert Australia should appear positioned 3-10 in google and msn.

You are probably wondering why I am so sure about this. Well, I am not 100% sure, but this is just a prognosis based on the work I have done so far.

Figured that if a search term has less then 300,000 competing sites in google (just like seo expert brisbane) then its usually fairly easy to get in the top 10 as most of the sites are structured incorrectly or have no idea about seo all together.

On the other hand if the search term has between 1,000,000 and 1,500,000 competing sites(just like seo expert australia), then ranking in the top 10 on google would become more difficult and some advanced techniques might be required.

We’ll see how this experiment goes. The overall aim is to rank number 1 for both SEO Expert Australia and [tag]SEO[t/ag] Expert Brisbane keywords in Google and MSN.
