Hi everyone,

I just got back to Brisbane from North Queensland and have been lucky to escape the flooded region by air even though I had to leave my car behind. There are a lot of people however who have nowhere to go and are still preparing for the worst with the Fitzroy river rising in Rockhampton and expecting to peak on Wednesday. All the roads are closed and there is really nowhere to go.

People are stuck in a closed region with no supplies and it looks like the flood is going to stay for at least 10 days. With the water still rising it looks like the sewage system is going to leak into the river making it even worse. Not mentioning the clean water supply being cut off also.

Usually after a flood like that all the furniture has to be thrown out, appliances damages, lots of repairs carried out to help people regain comfortable living. You can only imagine what can happen, I have been able to witness all and can tell you that the situation is life threatening. You hear about floods in North Queensland every year, but not like this one.
